Manila, 2 February 2009 – GHL Systems has successfully deployed its award-winning NetAccess L300 payment routers in all of Metrobank Card Corporation’s (MCC) major multilane merchants in the Philippines.
GHL Systems proposed its award-winning NetAccess L300s which are able to support up to 15 payment devices, and further providing merchants with multiple connectivity options, depending on their existing infrastructure and requirements: PSTN On-Demand Dial (ODD), TCP/IP, ADSL, Wireless (GPRS, EDGE and even HSDPA).

The L300 also features a multi-channel auto-fallback engine where it can be configured to have multiple channels as backups to ensure a continuous availability of uplinks (HSDPA, GPRS, ADSL, PSTN dialup–in any predefined order).
Not only does the L300s route transactions from multiple devices to destination hosts effectively and securely, the speeds in which they are routed are also improved dramatically. What this translates to is allowing businesses to conduct faster transactions. This, in turn, translates to improved customer experiences at checkout counters. Legacy dialup EDC terminals, for example, typically take between 16 to 20 seconds on averagein which to complete a card transaction, while a wireless GPRS terminal may take anywhere from 8 to 13 seconds. With the L300 payment routers, multiple legacy RS-232 EDC terminals take an average of only 5 to 8 seconds to complete their transactions on a single PSTN connection, while needing 4 to 7 seconds on a GPRS connection.
From a business perspective, this means customers lining up to pay for their purchases will not have to wait in the queue for long — therefore ensuring a more positive and pleasant customer experience. Consequently, more transactions can be completed within the same amount of time, thus increasing revenue for businesses. Said Mr. Herve Alfieri, GM for GHL Systems in the Philippines on the successful implementation, “For acquiring banks and businesses to compete successfully today and tomorrow – especially in today’s economic climate - they must dramatically transform their cost structures and how they operate.
“There are two dimensions to this cost transformation: first, to reduce the costs associated with their existing payment systems; and second, to restructure their payments infrastructure and operations to become more adaptable to changing market conditions.”
“In support of these objectives, GHL Systems’ new NetAccess X and L series of payment networking solutions link these cost optimization initiatives to business processes and immediate outcomes, where reinvestment on capital outlay for redeployment of new EDC terminals to replace legacy ones are no longer necessary, and neither do businesses need to contend with monthly variable communication costs”, he added.
“GHL Systems is extremely pleased to be a partner of Metrobank in the deployment of sensible and cost-effective, yet cutting edge solutions”.
MCC is third largest credit card company in the Philippines. MCC was first established in 1985, as Unibancard. In 2003, it was then re-launched as Metrobank Card Corporation, which is a joint venture between two established financial institutions: Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company and ANZ (Australia & New Zealand Bank). Metrobank is the largest bank in the Philippines in terms of assets and has the widest branch network.
