A single power source enables the reader only have a single RS232 cable interface for both power and communications – thus, reducing the need for separate power sources (for both reader and terminal) and also reducing clutter around the check-out counter area.

A new display feature allowing for a large display area enables advertising opportunities for banks or merchants by allowing for a customized look for each individual reader, with a removable see-through screen display cover.
